| Financial Assistance and Resources |
for your dog is heart wrenching beyond words. Given the rising cost of cancer care for dogs, it is not surprising that many people are not able to pay for even basic treatments and therefore may chose to euthanize or give up their pets. Others make very difficult trade-offs in order to acquire much needed veterinary services. Below we have compiled a list or organizations that provide financial assistance to pet owners during times of crisis. Most of these organizations have specific requirements in order to qualify for funding. In addition, please be aware that the process of applying for and receiving funding may take some time. However, for those with limited financial resources, these organizations may mean the difference between life and death so we encourage you to seek assistance if you need it. If you are fortunate enough to be in a situation where you can help others financially, please consider a donation to these groups. They play a critical role in the lives of dogs who need help. We have also provided some ideas to help you organize your own personal fund raising initiatives should you not qualify for assistance or need resources beyond what they organizations can fund. We encourage you not to give up hope. It can be very difficult raising the money that you need but there are many people who may be willing to help you. The most important advice we can give you is to not be shy about asking for help and/or money. Getting the funds you need may take a large dose of persistance. |
